Well, I definitely exceeded my expectations with this race as I have not done a lot of running since the marathon 4 weeks ago and I already feel pretty gross and out of shape.  The reason we (my brother Mark - finished around 1:24 - and I) ran this was to get one race down in the runners series.  It was my first time running the race and I pretty much died around mile 9.5, which was to be expected after the downhill pounding my legs took up to that point.  Splits:

5:59, 5:54, 5:50, 5:42, 5:47, 5:40, 5:46, 6:36 (legs were hurting here and I took my sweet time at the aid station), 5:53, 6:28, 7:04 (oh wow, I'm done), 6:43, 6:43, 1:02.

The first 7 miles were awesome and running down Snow Canyon was great.  Just kept going at a pace that felt pretty good there at the beginning, but I knew I was going to pay the price at the end.  Probably ran my fastest 10k ever at the beginning of the race coming in around 36:10 at the 6.2 mark.  Once we hit the trail my legs were hammered.  The lead girl caught up to me around mile 6 and I was with her until about mile 9.  She finished just over 1:18.  I had a couple of walk breaks in there at the end, but basically got to a point where I was just trying to get to the finish.  I was "that guy" that was getting passed at the end, but oh well.  Overall, it was a good race and it felt good to get some faster miles in again.  Pretty sure my legs are going to be shot for the next couple of days.  Left pretty quickly after finishing so that we could get home.  Not sure what place I took, but will see when the results are posted.

Good race, looks like it is a PR, and after not having run very much since the marathon.

Nice job Jeff. Is that your new PR?

Thanks, for the comments guys. Rob, I ran a 1:20:09 at the Provo River 1/2 a few months back. This course is just as fast if not faster than that one. You would have flown on this course.

Nah, I can only run fast if there is a spinning rubber mat under my feet any more.
