PM 67 min on the elliptical.

For my own benefit I want to note this.  Went to the doctor yesterday (Karl Weenig - recommended by Matt) to get my left heel checked out.  They took x-rays and it turns out I have a spur that is formed by calcium build up at the bottom of my achilles which is causing me problems.  He gave me some heel inserts to wear (not while running), a perscription for some flexor patches to put on it (anti-inflamatory), and some exercises to do.  He also told me to not run for about 3-4 weeks and then when I try running to make sure I start off on flat surfaces.  If this doesn't work, then we will get more aggressive and try a boot.  He said he sees this type of injury all the time and is probably due to excessive pounding or too quick of a buildup in mileage or misstepping.  I'm going to try like crazy to not go crazy by doing the elliptical, swimming and lifting.

Yeah, trying not to feel sorry for myself. Many others have gone through much worse, including you. Nice job on the marathon today.

[moral support]

sorry you have to step away from running for a bit, but hopefully it fixes things so you can run comfortably again. i have no advice on how to not go crazy, as i went crazy. one thing that helped me was getting competitive with myself and making up little goals to keep me focused and (somewhat) motivated.

good luck. hope the heel starts feeling good again really soon.

^i just realized how dumb that sounds since we all do that every day with running, but...yeah. if it's not your game, make it a game. :)

Haha, Allie. I hear you. I'm going to have to do something to make things more interesting because the elliptical gets real boring and staring at the blue line at the bottom of the pool while swimming also gets boring. I sure hope you are doing better. You really got put through the ringer with your most recent injury.

Injuries are a true test of ones mental tuffness. Jeff you should look into why you are depositing extra calcium. It's either you are not absorbing you calcium because your magnesium to calcium ratio is off (they should be 1:1 ratio) or your not getting vitamin K2 which helps calcium go where it needs to go or it could be both.
